Unicode Support
Summary
The following list of recommendations take Unicode extended character file and directory names into account when deploying and managing Novell Storage Manager for use with NSS storage on NetWare and OES Linux servers.
Basic Unicode Support
- Novell Storage Manager Engine must run on NetWare 6.5 sp2 or later
- Novell Storage Manager Sentinels should run on NetWare 6.5 sp2 or later
- Verify that all files and directories in user and group templates are free from Unicode extended characters
- Only setup Vault paths on NetWare 6.5 sp2 or later or OES Linux sp1 or later servers
- Be sure that all Target Paths, Vault Paths, and Template Paths are free from Unicode extended character naming
- Upgrade all servers with managed storage to NetWare 6.5 sp2 or later, or OES Linux sp1 or later
Enhanced Unicode Support
- Novell Storage Manager Engine should run on NetWare 6.5 sp6 or later
- Novell Storage Manager Sentinels should run on NetWare 6.5 sp6 or later
- Verify that all files and directories in user and group templates are free from Unicode extended characters
- Only setup Vault paths on NetWare 6.5 sp2 or later or OES Linux sp1 or later servers
- Be sure that all Target paths, Vault Paths, and Template Paths are free from Unicode extended character naming
